Critical Care Telemetry Technician JOB SUMMARY Join our team and be a part of our mission to deliver accessible, high-quality, affordable, and compassionate healthcare. Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is a non-profit healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota. Our team at Prairie Lakes makes a difference in the lives of patients and their loved ones POSITION SUMMARY Full-time (0.9 status or 36 hours per week) and PRN (fill in/as needed) positions available. Wage: $16.25-$24.76 Monitors heart rhythm pattern of patients in the CCU, Telemetry Unit, Med Surg Unit, MCH and SDS to detect abnormal pattern variances by performing the following duties. RESPONSIBILITIES Monitors telemetry of cardiac rhythms and vital signs, initiate calls to nursing station to report abnormalities and communicates physician and nurses telemetry report. Performs DASH monitoring (NIBP, oximetry, respiratory and heart rhythm) notifying nursing units and CCU nurse of abnormalities. Monitoring units to include OB/Nursery, Pediatrics, General Surgical, Medical Floor and ER. DASH monitoring mainly functions as a step down unit and post-op anesthesia monitoring system. Technician responsible for accurate trend reports. Monitors CCU patients to include cardiac, NIBP, oximetry, respiratory, Swan Ganz, art line, temp pacer, CVP and wedge pressure. Keeping primary nurse constantly informed of any changes, etc. Answers telephones, enters daily charges, transcribes physician's orders, makes copies for transfers, etc. Coordinates staffing calls for the telemetry technician and RN as directed by house supervisor and CCU RN. Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances in the critical care unit, medical/surgical/pediatric department, and maternal child health department. Monitors and interprets rhythm strips, trends data, and informs supervisor or RN of variances Assists in direct patient care by answering lights, repositioning, and assisting with ADL's. Observes screen of cardiac monitor and listens for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm. Measures length and height of patient's heart rhythm pattern on graphic tape readout and posts information on patient records. Answers calls for assistance from patients and inquiries concerning patients from medical staff. Performs clerical and patient care duties as assigned. Other duties may be assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with one-year related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
