Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is a non-profit healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota. POSITION SUMMARY Wage: $32.00-$49.46 This full-time (0.9 Status or 36hrs per week) position provides specialized nursing care for critically ill and telemetry/stepdown patients with acute and complex health conditions. Responsible for assessment, monitoring, and management of patients requiring intensive or intermediate levels of care. Excludes care for newborns and labor and delivery patients. RESPONSIBILITIES Provides direct patient and personal care. Performs comprehensive and ongoing assessments of critically ill and telemetry patients. Administers prescribed medications, including IV drips, and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Initiate and manages cardiac monitoring, documentation of heart rhythms. Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction. Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients. Receives, transcribes, and executes physician orders. Responds to staffing and scheduling needs and problems. Other duties may be assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program; one year of experience preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Holds or is eligible for current RN licensure in the State of South Dakota. Mandatory Basic and Advanced Life Support Training per policy Computer Skills Microsoft applications, electronic health record.
