Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is an independent, non-profit rural healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota. This is a full-time (0.8 status or 32 hours per week) position. Job Summary This position reviews, monitors, and adjusts patients' drug therapy. Prepares, compounds, and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care. Reviews, interprets, processes, and communicates physician medication orders. Responsibilities include: • Enters, reviews and checks CPSI medication orders. • Procures, maintains, and controls medications. • Monitors patients' drug therapy by providing drug therapy information, recommendations and/or education. • Prepares, compounds, and dispenses medication. • Prepares injectable medications, TPN, chemo, antibiotics, etc. • Attends rapid responses, code blues, and level I trauma codes to assist with medication preparation, dosing, etc. • Supervises technicians and students. • Performs POC e-mar maintenance – change times, messages, routes, etc. • Assesses patient charges and corrects billing issues. • Maintains legally required institution records. • Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications Pharm D or BS degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy. Hospital experience preferred. Holds or is eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of South Dakota.
