The Pulmonology Physician Assistant’s role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients at Altru, providing comprehensive care for injuries and illnesses. The Pulmonology Physician Assistants’ responsibilities include counseling patients on preventive healthcare measures and exercising professional judgment in alignment with Altru’s policies and standards.

The position requires achieving annual Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals, supporting department objectives, and maintaining accurate and timely documentation to ensure quality patient care and appropriate reimbursement. Essential Job Functions: Provides patient/patient’s family with appropriate education based on the patient’s condition and identifies needs in order to optimize understanding. Provides health maintenance and disease management counseling to patients.

Obtains comprehensive medical histories, performs physical examinations/assessments and initiates admission orders as appropriate. Participates in plans for health promotion, prevention and maintenance for the Altru Health System, the community and region. Provides medical management and/or other interventions for acute and chronic health problems.
