Medical Assistant I

Medical Assistant Status: Per-Diem – Non-Exempt Reports to: Clinic Manager __________________________________________________________________________________________ Purpose and Scope of Position This position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care/treatment and provides clerical and administrative support. Works collaboratively with the Physician, Non-Physician Provider, RN, LPN, and other departmental personnel to meet the physical, psychosocial, educational, and spiritual needs of the patient and family. This position interacts with both Beartooth Billings Clinic staff, customers, regulatory agencies and other health care providers. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Job Requirements Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Six (6) months related work experience in a health care environment required to develop proficiency in basic Medical Assistant procedures and processes encompassing all age groups, preferred. Successful completion of department orientation, skills competencies specific to department Completion of mandatory HealthStream modules within two (2) months of hire (proof of completion of college medical terminology with a C or better; may be used in lieu of modules) Departments requiring basic IM injections must complete above requirements, CDC modules, and department skills competency. Along with Director and physician approval. Preferred Qualifications Ability to obtain certification or registration within fifteen (15) months of hire through organizations approved by Beartooth Billings Clinic. If coming from a medical assisting program; must be obtained within 90 days of program completion. Managerial Experience N/A Special Requirements Must be able to reason independently and work with minimal guidance. Must be able to interpret data and make sound judgments based on those interpretations. Must deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring tact, judgment, and poise. Must be able to adapt to quickly changing priorities and schedules.
