Summary
Under general to limited supervision, reviews Division of Environmental Health & Engineering (DEHE) project proposals and provides professional land surveying services in support of the completion of sanitation and health facilities construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Performs a range of technical tasks requiring independent analysis and formulation of solutions to problems related to land and construction surveying, computer aided design and drafting, property ownership and boundary research and survey related office duties.
- Maintains project correspondence and records from project conception to completion. Drafts and details elements needed to produce plans for construction. Identifies problems and recommends solutions or corrective actions. May require travel to and work in remote locations for surveys lasting up to several weeks. Ensures work conforms to practical technical standards and policies. Applies expertise and knowledge of application software programs and specialty technical programs or service. May require travel to and work in remote locations for surveys lasting up to several weeks. Creates written legal descriptions of property boundaries. Analyzes right of way needs for projects. Creates easement documents for needed right of way for projects. Land and Construction Surveying – Coordinates, schedules and monitors survey activities under the direction of a Registered Land Surveyor as needed. Establishes and analyzes survey control networks, and survey datum. Analyzes field surveys for accuracy. Coordinates survey activities with other organizations and village administrative officials. CAD Operations - Creates and updates basemaps, property boundary and other drawings.
- Provides as-built updates for plan set drawings to produce record drawings. Incorporates various types of images into CAD drawings. Creates plan set sheets for depiction of survey control and right of way. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS Knowledge of plan set structure and function. Knowledge of geomatics. Knowledge of the names, purpose and parts, setup, transport and the need for calibration of various surveying field instruments.
Knowledge of the mathematics and measurements related to surveying including linear, angular, elevations, and unit conversions. Knowledge of basic survey techniques and procedures. Knowledge of land status and skill in determining legal status of project lands.
Knowledge of construction staking procedures and stake markings. Knowledge of skills that apply to Land Surveying and CAD Operations. Skill in technical CAD drafting using AutoCAD.
