- Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.). Preferred: Experience in patient care or a healthcare education/background. Recent phlebotomy experience. PBT (ASCP) certification or an equivalent. Lic/Reg/Cert: TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS Involves light physical and moderate cognitive demands.
- Requires walking one to three miles, sitting, standing, and adjusting bed or chair heights. Must be able to bend, reach intermittently, and manage time constraints while handling multiple tasks and frequent interruptions. Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively, and make sound decisions when faced with patient care issues. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Phlebotomy
- Provides phlebotomy services for the hospital or off-site locations. Performs venipunctures, heel punctures and capillary sticks using specified techniques that ensures both patient and employee safety.
- Maintains specimen integrity to ensure quality test results. • Processing: Collects other laboratory specimens as designated by procedure. Triages incoming specimens, accessions, labels and distributes specimen appropriately. Performs all data entry for specimen identification and accessioning. Organizes workload and correctly prioritizes orders for collection giving proper urgency to STAT requests. Runs outstanding reports to locate specimens. Provide troubleshooting for order issues, specimen collections and rejection protocols. Fills out appropriate specimen logs. • Professionalism: Wears I.D. badge while on the job. Vocera badge is worn while working in the inpatient hospital setting. Vocera badge is active, and employee is signed on during work hours. Actively seeks to keep up appearance of the facility including own work area as well as public areas even if not part of regular duties. •
