Minimum 1 year of dialysis nursing experience (acute or chronic) or critical care experience with CRRT/SLED. Strong assessment, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively in high-acuity and fast-paced hospital settings. Comfort assigning and supervising Dialysis Patient Care Technicians. Preferred: Previous acute inpatient dialysis experience. National certification in nephrology nursing (e.g., CNN, CDN). Knowledge of regulatory standards related to dialysis care. TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The position involves repetitive hand and arm movements when setting up and monitoring dialysis equipment. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious materials is routine. Sustained attention to detail, strong problemsolving skills, and the ability to respond quickly and appropriately in urgent or emergency situations. Must manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions, and maintain emotional resilience when working with patients experiencing chronic illness or distress. Compassion, clear communication, and teamwork are essential. Variable schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Clinical & Patient Care Provide comprehensive patient care by assessing, planning, initiating, monitoring, and discontinuing hemodialysis, SLED, and CRRT treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies. Administer medications and manage patient stability, including anticoagulants and fluid balance, while monitoring patient response and intervening in emergencies. Perform and oversee vascular access care (AV fistulas, grafts, central venous catheters) including assessment, cannulation, catheter connection/disconnection, and monitoring for complications.
