A Brief Overview Responsible for the safe, accurate and timely preparation, handling, storage, and distribution of all neonatal feedings including mother's own milk, donor human milk, formula, and prescribed fortifiers. This role operates within a controlled, high-reliability preparation environment and requires strict adherence to aseptic technique, standardized recipes, infection prevention practices, and regulatory guidelines. The technician ensures all feedings are prepared in alignment with provider orders while supporting efficient workflow and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety. What you will do Prepares neonatal feedings in accordance with provider orders and standardized formulations. Accurately measures, mixes, and fortifies human milk and formula using approved techniques. Verifies patient identifiers, feeding orders, volumes, caloric density, and additives prior to preparation. Labels all prepared feedings accurately, including patient identifiers, contents, and expiration dating. Safely handles, stores, thaws, and distributes mother’s milk, donor human milk, and formula per established protocols including monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures and ensuring appropriate product rotation. Utilizes EMR and/or milk tracking systems to document preparation activities and maintain accurate records. Manages inventory of formula, fortifiers, donor milk, and preparation supplies. Performs routine cleaning and sanitation of equipment and surfaces in accordance with infection prevention standards. Effectively utilizes phones and/or mobile communication devices and computer systems to support documentation, order verification, and workflow coordination. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
