Summary

The ED Technician is responsible to support the organizations commitment to patient care and the patient experience within the Emergency Department and throughout the organization. The technician demonstrates strong working knowledge of clinical terminology, and equipment and supplies. The ED Technician performs patient required identification and specimen labeling and provides complete documentation to ensure patient safety and an optimal patient experience.

Essential Job Functions: Cleans designated equipment according to equipment and infection control procedures and cleans designated supply storage units and rooms. Performs patient care services, i.e., bathroom assists, attaching monitors, assisting patients with dressing, etc. Performs EKGs including charging, documentation, and transmitting.

Restocks patient, staff and linen supplies and maintains inventory control in assigned areas according to inventory listings established by the department. Assembles equipment and supplies and coordinates procedures to meet nursing staff needs during and after procedures and treatments. Maintains room readiness by completing room turnover cleaning, ensuring equipment is prepared and ready for next patient, and ensuring adequate stock of bedside supplies.
