Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer - Accounting and Reporting (“CFO – AR”) will be responsible for ensure that all DHR Health System entities financial statements are recorded and reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals. CFO- AR will ensure that monthly consolidated statements are prepared as well as each individual entity. CFO-AR will report to the Board of Managers on a monthly basis the financial position of the company with sufficient detail for the Board of Managers to make informed decisions.
The CFO – AR will also be responsible for ensuring timely preparation and filing of audit reports including the Single Audit, tax filing, CMS cost reports, and all filings required due to statutory requirements, debt covenants and other regulatory requirements. CFO – AR is responsible for the cash management function of DHR Health. The CFO- AR will have accountability for building and leading a skilled finance staff, increasing the overall financial acumen of the company, and assuring that the finance function remains fundamentally excellent and attracts and retains top professional talent.
Position Education/ Qualifications
- • BS or BA in Accounting CPA and/or FHFMA Preferred Good written and verbal communication skills required. Some evening or weekend work will be required
Job Knowledge/Experience
- • Ten years of progressive financial leadership experience in the healthcare industry, Strong working knowledge of general acute care hospital, outpatient and ambulatory operations and workflow.
- Mission-driven professional with agility, energy and aptitude to excel in a progressive organization in alignment with DHR Health values.
- Track record leading end-to-end projects, managing a high volume of work with efficiency, and being able to execute effectively, shift priorities and solve problems creatively.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in both strategic and tactical thinking related to overall organizational leadership
Position Responsibilities
- • Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
- Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices.
- Responsibilities include the preparation of financial reports for the Finance Committee, CEO, and the Board of Managers, ensuring that all appropriate laws and regulations governing healthcare finances are followed.
- Financial reports include but are not limited to the following: Individual entity reports (i.e.
- Hospital, Real Estate, Hospice, Research etc.) Consolidated Financial Statements Facility Service Line reports Clinic reports.
- Location and Provider Responsible for administering the general accounting, financial and statistical reporting functions of the hospital in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures as well as in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Responsible for ensuring the ERP is functioning as intended and that financial statements are automated and produced via the system.
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns and audited financial statements, Ensure timely valuation of partnership units by third party, Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for partnership unit purchases and sells, Assist legal counsel in identification and enforcement of partnership non-compete clause, Prepares, reviews and analyzes cash flow worksheets on a rolling twelve month basis, Advise executive leadership and the Board of Managers on financial planning, cash flow, debt, financial statements audit and tax returns and regulatory matters.
- Develop and implement standardized monthly reporting package.
- Works collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer – Financial Operations (CFO-FO) and the governing Board in the development of long and short range hospital operations plans and capital budgets as supported by the hospital's long and short range objectives.
- Keeps current with healthcare funding programs at federal and state levels, Familiar with all regulatory requirements and works closely with Compliance, The CFO - AR monitors the hospital's fiscal performance on realizing its established plans and objectives, identifies, and reports undesirable trends with remedial action recommendations to the governing Board for final review and approval.
- The CFO – AR in collaboration with the CFO - FO assumes a lead role in exploring and implementing means of managing and improving the financial performance of the hospital as well as oversees internal accounting controls, all areas of receivables management, and other business office systems and procedures to achieve efficiencies in the business office.
