Job Description The Primary responsibility of the Trash Tech is to remove trash, dirty linen, biohazardous materials, pharmacy waste and recycling from all areas of the hospital and place it in properly in its designated location. Performs any other Environmental Service related duties as needed by his/her direct supervisor and or management. SHIFT & SCHEDULE: Full Time, 3:00pm-11:30pm ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Understands departmental organizational chart Understands Departmental dress code Knows proper hand washing techniques Understanding of methods to prevent cross contamination The wearing of appropriate PPE Knowledge of proper use/disposal of gloves EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent preferred but not required. Equivalent work experience is a plus. Within 90 days of hire, employee must complete DOT & biohazard waste handling via the Stericycle training programs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to: Ø Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
