Summary
The Pharmacy Compliance Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining compliance programs within the Pharmacy department and beyond to ensure adherence to federal, state, and organizational regulations and policies. This role supports audits, inspections, and quality improvement and educational and Research initiatives; monitors compliance with licenses, permits, controlled substance management, medication storage, and documentation standards; and assists with regulatory readiness across all pharmacy and some Oncology and Clinic locations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and monitors compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., DEA, FDA, ISMP, Board of Pharmacy, CMS, Joint Commission, DNV and HRSA). Oversees internal CDS and High Cost Drug audits and assists with external inspections or accreditation surveys. Ensures all pharmacy operations align with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Develops and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) and compliance documentation. Conducts audits on controlled substances, medication storage areas, Pharmacy Research Advisory Board (PRAB) and ROI IIR grants and seeks to optimize pharmacy processes with best practices. Collaborates with leadership to identify compliance risks, KPls and implements corrective action plans and Plans Of Actions. Supports staff education and training initiatives related to pharmacy licensure compliance, Fee-for-service ACPE and other accredited Educational Initiatives (Conferences, Written Educational Programs, safety, and documentation practices. Tracks, trends, and reports compliance findings and quality metrics to Pharmacy leadership, to the Medication Safety Committee and to other Onvida venues as appropriate. Serves as a liaison between the Pharmacy department, Compliance Office, and Quality/Regulatory teams.
- Has detailed Knowledge of Onvida's eligible and enrolled 340B child-sites Stays up to date with 340B rules and regulations and makes compliance recommendations to the 340 B Committee. Attends compliance, 340 B and other educational webinars hosted by 340B Health, HRSA, 340B collaboration team, prime vendor program, etc.
- Understands the 340 B buyer Maintenance of the CDM to NDC mapping within the TPA software. Collaboratively reviews end of month 340B savings reports. Is Aware of 340B purchasing criteria as it relates to patient, provider, and location eligibility.
- Maintains ability to verify 340B contract pricing and initiate proper notice to HRSA when price is unavailable. Reviews new 340B account requests as needed in concert with the 340 B manager and 340 B buyer. Participates in Medication Safety and Quality committees as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Credentials: Essential: * PHARMACY TECHNICIAN * CERTIFIED PHARMACY TECHNICIAN (CPhT) Education: Essential: * HS DIPLOMA/GED
Other Information
Minimum Requirements High School Equivalency Diploma Active Arizona State Board of Pharmacy Technician License in good standing. Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through PTCB or ExCPT. Minimum 5-8 years of experience in a hospital or health system pharmacy environment.
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including DEA, 340 B, Board of Pharmacy, and DNV standards.
