REGULAR FULL TIME | 80.00 Hours Every Two Weeks Shift: Days Pay Rate Type: Annual Salary Location: Remote Please Note: This is a remote position; however, due to labor law regulations and business requirements, candidates residing in certain states may not be eligible for remote work. Summary
Under the general supervision of the Coding Manager or designee, the Medical Coding Supervisor is responsible for performing and supervising inpatient and outpatient medical coding task and staff throughout YRMC. Manages and assigns medical coding workload for high volume inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services including medical, behavioral health, intensive care, surgical, and other specialty services. Supervises the day-to-day activities of the medical coding staff.
Responsibilities
- Monitors medical coders accuracy through audits.
- Monitors medical coders productivity.
- Manages medical coders’ attendance needs including but not limited to: PTO, Holiday, call offs, schedule changes, sick time, etc.
- Runs team meetings to facilitate changes within the department, address questions for medical coders, identify team needs and communicate with coding manager or designee.
- Participates and/or coordinates education/training to medical coders as needed.
- Responsible for counseling, coaching, and corrective action activities with collaboration with HIM coding manager.
- Resolve problems and answer questions from staff promptly.
- Monitors and maintain coding supervisor workqueue as medical coders elevate cases requiring additional assistance.
- Preserves confidential, protected health and personally identifiable information and files.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Credentials: Essential: * CERTIFIED CODING SPECIALIST (CCS) Education: Essential: * ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE
Other Information
Minimum Education Required: Associate’s degree in medical Billing and Coding or equivalent Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements, including HIPAA Knowledge of current healthcare and medical terminology, including ICD-10 and CPT codes High degree of organization and strong attention to detail Ability to Communicate, solve problems and assign work effectively Experience with multiple specialty coding including Cardiology, GI, Oncology, and Orthopedics Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Office, Outlook, Excel, One Note, and Teams Proficient in computer skills Must maintain CPC certification Preferred Education: Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations related to health care finance. Ability to plan, prioritize, and schedule multiple tasks Experience with Epic (Resolute) Health Information System Minimum Experience Required: Five (5) years of medical coding experience to include two (2) years of or coding education responsibilities.
