- Get to Know Your Team: BSA Harrington Cancer Center is a state-of-the-art, 48,000-square-foot facility with two new linear accelerators for radiation treatments, 24 patient exam rooms, 28 heated chemotherapy infusion chairs, and three private infusion rooms for families.
- Responsibilities A mammography technologist will provide patient services using various imaging modalities, which may include Stereotactic, Contrast Mammography, and DEXA.
- Mammographers are expected to perform screening and diagnostic procedures in a fast-paced environment.
- Need to exercise critical thinking skills, be able to troubleshoot, and be able to manage stress.
- Must be able to work well with others and have effective communication skills.
- Technologists follow the direction of the Breast Center Radiologist and established procedures/protocols.
- Shifts are spent with extensive time on their feet, which includes standing, squatting, and bending.
- When performing exams, the technologist must adhere to all radiation safety precautions.
- Technologists must be available to complete exams at the main facility (HBC), detached facilities, and outreach settings.
- A technologist is responsible for their quality of images, positioning skills, and the basic knowledge of quality control tests.
- Qualifications Job
Requirements
- High School (or GED equivalent) diploma.
- ARRT Certification in Radiological Technology.
- Texas Department of Health Licensure.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
- Preferred Job
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in screening and diagnostic procedures.
- Experience in performing QC tests.
- Basic knowledge of stereotactic biopsies.
- Associate's Degree or certificate required from a CAHEA-approved Radiological Technology Program.
- Mammography registry.
