The salary range listed is just one component of the total rewards/compensation package offered to candidates.

Summary

The Clinical Pastoral Education Resident provides/arranges provision of pastoral care to premature, neo-natal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, their families and staff and functions professionally in an egalitarian environment in all situations to include: crisis intervention, the scene of a death, in a group/therapeutic context. The Clinical Pastoral Education Resident participates fully and commits to the Clinical Pastoral Education Program for a minimum of one year.

Responsibilities

  • Shows commitment to patients by demonstrating the effective use of the pastoral care process in providing cultural, religious, age and developmentally appropriate care as well as demonstrating appropriate and effective use of prayer; complies with the ethical standards of both YRMC and the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc.; provides for specific needs of individual faith groups by fostering an interfaith approach to hospital ministry including administering the sacraments and perform religious rites or arrange for an appropriate religious leader to do so.
  • Demonstrates creative and innovative decision making by facilitating patient well-being and autonomy, integrating hospital policies and procedures and pastoral care standards and practices.
  • Plans, organizes, directs and schedules educational and religious programs and services that meet the needs of patients, families, hospital employees, medical staff, and the community.
  • Participates in the Clinical Pastoral Education program and meets minimum ACPE standards that includes writing and negotiating a learning contract with the supervisor, attendance at all scheduled meetings, written unit evaluation, specified number of pastoral visits presented for group and individual supervision, consultation with ACPE supervisor concerning personal and professional growth.
  • Assists in preparing required departmental reports by compiling statistics and other pertinent information.
  • Works collaboratively with the Donor Network of Arizona, the YRMC Department of Pathology, the Yuma County Medical Examiner and the various mortuaries to coordinate all issues surrounding the death of a patient.
  • Documents each patient visit in a Progress Note in the Patient Chart or in the CareTrac or by dictation; follows charting guidelines as outlined in The Discipline for Pastoral Care Giving, edited by Larry VandeCreek, & Arthur M.
