Job Description Midland Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our West Texas Orthopedics Clinic team. This is a split-role position that combines clinical support responsibilities with athletic training coverage for a local school district. SHIFT AND SCHEDULE Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM This role includes clinic-based patient support as well as athletic training services for Stanton ISD. The Athletic Trainer will work collaboratively with providers, patients, and school staff to ensure high-quality care and injury management. CLINIC RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with MRI and CT authorizations and coordinate imaging scheduling as ordered by providers Coordinate patient follow-up appointments and ensure continuity of care Support providers in delivering efficient, patient-centered clinical services SCHOOL COVERAGE RESPONSIBILITIES (STANTON ISD) Provide daily athletic training coverage during athletic periods and after-school practices Travel with varsity football, including away games Travel for varsity playoff competitions for other sports as needed Provide coverage for: Home high school athletic events Home junior high football games Select Saturday events, including volleyball games On-call support for Saturday basketball practices One home basketball tournament in December Junior high and high school track meets in March Provide weekly coverage during summer conditioning programs Note: Work hours may be adjusted throughout the week to maintain an approximate 40-hour work schedule. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Assist in patient care under the direct supervision of a healthcare provider and in collaboration with the healthcare team Deliver excellent customer service while promoting patient rights, dignity, and individualized care Serve as a key resource for athletes, parents, and coaches by reinforcing provider instructions and care plans Plan, coordinate, and supervise all aspects of the athletic training program. Provide services under the direction of the team physician, including: Injury prevention Evaluation and assessment Emergency care Rehabilitation and reconditioning Referral coordination as needed Perform casting, splinting, and durable medical equipment (DME) or brace fittings as appropriate Act as a liaison between athletes, parents, coaches, and clinic staff to ensure effective communication and care coordination EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Licensed Athletic Trainer PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to: Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
