Job Summary The Telemetry Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous observation of all telemetry patient parameters and operations of central monitoring stations in CICU. Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to: • Monitor potentially life threatening risk behaviors exhibited by telemetry patients; Verbally redirect patient behaviors while notifying nursing staff for assistance • Ensures all patient information is entered into the monitoring hardware device correctly and information is documented in monitoring log • Monitors use and distribution of monitoring devices throughout the assigned unit • Functions as preceptor for new staff • All other related assigned duties Education and Experience • High School Diploma or GED • + 2 years of experience working with cardiac anatomy and physiology with in depth knowledge of cardiac electrophysiology and interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias. Skills and Abilities • Basic computer skills; Basic Microsoft Office skills necessary • Able to multi-task and prioritize to meet competing deadlines • Ability to extend and maintain discretion and confidentiality when working with patients Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships This role will interact closely with nursing unit, medical staff, patients, and other hospital departments Physical Capabilities Work is demanding and requires ability to monitor up to 12 patients on one screen at a time. Talking and hearing is essential for communicating with patients and nursing staff. Must be able to verbally communicate using a microphone and headset Environmental/Working Conditions This position is subject to varying indoor temperature changes. Work done intraoperative is performed in a high- risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biowaste hazards.
