Summary

Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Establish and maintain the sterile field while assisting surgeons throughout operative procedures.
- Perform surgical scrub duties, instrument counts, specimen handling, patient positioning, and other intraoperative support.
- Clean, inspect, assemble, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and reusable medical devices according to regulatory and manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor sterilization processes, maintain quality assurance documentation, and ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety standards.
- Maintain inventory, restock supplies, and support the readiness of the operating room and sterile processing areas.
- Collaborate with the surgical team, mentor team members as appropriate, and participate in ongoing education and process improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program required; Sterile Processing certification preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum one year of experience in an operating room and one year of sterile processing experience in a hospital, clinic, or veterinary setting required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and advanced surgical specialties, including ENT, orthopedics, spine, plastics, ophthalmology, and total joint procedures.
- Ability to train and precept new team members preferred.
