Responsibilities

  • * All Polysomnography Technologist job functions. * Direct supervision of the Sleep Lab staff including performance evaluations, behavioral issues and corrective action. *
  • Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Maintains JCR guidelines and AASM guidelines for the Sleep Lab. * Oversees education during quarterly staff meetings around AASM Accreditation & Joint Commission readiness. * Oversees daily scheduling of the Sleep Lab staff to optimize productivity and census manage when appropriate. * Works directly with the Lead to ensure shift/daily operations are meeting expectations for service, care, and financial accountability. * Collaborates with Human Resources and Polysomnography Manager for team and individual accountability and disciplinary actions. *
  • Provides input for performance evaluations and calibrations; participates in the employee evaluation discussions. * Acts as an educational resource and is available for consultation to medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staff. * Conducts training and provides education to staff as necessary while ensuring Lead is proficient to provide ongoing training for new hires. * Enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as required or directed. Brings back learnings to the team for their professional growth and development. * Establishes and maintains regular communication within the department and with other hospital departments including regionals. Develops relationships with professional affiliations and others as is appropriate. * Assists Department Polysomnography Manager with preparation and ongoing review of PKH and HR Lab budgets. * Screens, interviews and hires potential staff members. * Carries out the responsibilities of the Polysomnography Manager in his/her absence. * Responsible for audits that support Accreditation. *
  • Requires demonstratable leadership skills and experience including effective delegation, conflict management, teambuilding, motivation of self and others, and problem-solving. * Must participate and complete leadership courses through Talent Development to include Crucial Conversations and Crucial Accountability * Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • * High School Diploma/GED required. Associates Degree preferred. * Four or more years of Polysomnographic Technologist experience. *
  • Requires registration as a Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) or RRT-SPS. *
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification. *
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of polysomnographic testing, scoring practices and procedures associated with an accredited sleep disorders center. *
  • Requires the ability to operate complex equipment, which includes the ability to recognize defective operation and perform troubleshooting or repairs to equipment. *
  • Requires the ability to lead and navigate staff through a backup process during a downtime. UPDATED: 9.22.2021 We're all about well-being, starting with yours.
