Responsibilities
- Assists providers with preparing, performing, and completing interventional procedures, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
- Prepares and breaks down procedure rooms, ensuring required supplies, sterile equipment, and materials are available to prevent delays.
- Utilizes safe practices for sterile technique, contrast injection, radiation protection, and patient safety throughout procedures.
- Monitors and documents patient contrast usage, radiation exposure, and required procedural data in the medical record.
- Demonstrates competency in specialty-specific equipment, supplies, and technical procedures, maintaining current annual competencies.
- Ensures equipment safety checks, preventive maintenance, and supply expiration requirements are met.
- Reviews procedural requirements, labs, imaging, and patient documentation prior to procedures to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Verifies patient identity and procedure using established safety protocols and participates in procedural time-outs.
- Educates patients on pre- and post-procedure instructions and care expectations.
- Recognizes and reports safety concerns, unexpected events, or adverse outcomes through established reporting systems.
- Completes required documentation accurately and timely to support regulatory, quality, and radiation safety standards.
- Supports team operations through call coverage, cross-campus flexibility, collaboration, and training of new staff or students.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Radiologic Sciences required.
- ARRT (R) certification preferred at hire and required within one (1) year of graduation.
- New Mexico Medical Imaging License required.
- Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology experience preferred.
