Department Details Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented candidate to join our Emergency Services team. This role works closely with our team of clinical staff to manage switchboard and department call intake, register patients, post patient billing charges, set up transports, facilitate consults between Physicians, and manage paperwork for Physicians and Nurses. Position Details: Union: AFSCME Internal Posting Timeline: Wednesday, July 1, 2026 - Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 10:30am Shift Length(s): 8 hours Start Time(s): 11:00pm, or as assigned, including weekend rotation Overtime Status: 12+ hours in 1 day or 40+ hours in 1 work week Summary The Patient Access Emergency Midnight Coordinator obtains patient-specific data, operates the facility telecommunication system, addresses phone traffic requests, monitors and utilizes proper emergency responses from Emergency Department, and performs general clerical tasks. Job Description Obtains complete and correct patient demographic information and inputs into the Health Information Management System for patients to obtain hospital services. Ensures that Emergency Chart charge entry and discharges are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Assists with the collection of copays in the Emergency Department. Monitors the hospital alarm system and operates the telecommunication systems to effectively and efficiently address internal and external phone traffic requests. Receives and directs patients and visitors. Defines, captures, analyzes, transforms, transmits, and reports patient-specific data and information related to department processes, patient care processes, and outcomes. Performs Health Unit Coordinator duties within the Emergency Department. Provides assistance and support to clinical staff and providers while coordinating smooth patient flow processes and the transfer of patients to external facilities. May be called upon to train new staff on all aspects of job requirements. Performs various clerical and system functions in a Registration/Switchboard/HUC capacity as assigned and needed. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have two years of customer service experience. Must demonstrate excellence in customer service and professional conduct. Must have excellent communication skills and empathy while dealing with patients/families. Must possess and display a sense of responsibility to finalize tasks that are required of this position, have ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure and in a fast-paced environment, and be able to provide optimal care and customer service to patients and families.
