Summary
The Occupational Health Nurse RN provides healthcare services for job candidates, employees, contractors, in order to meet and maintain compliance with YRMC policy, local, state, and federal law; provides consultation within scope of service to workforce members.
Responsibilities
- Clinical and Primary Care: Uses and documents the nursing process in care management; Assesses, diagnoses, and treats clients consistent with appropriate standards and laws; Counsels clients on reduction of risks associated with occupational and environmental health and safety hazards; Uses and maintains an accurate, complete record keeping, while maintaining confidentiality. Recruitment and Retention: Supports and enhances a dynamic HR program by facilitating timely, efficient and comprehensive pre-placement evaluations for new and returning personnel; Participates in recruitment activities as requested; Promotes services that support Volunteer recruitment and retention. Case Management: Identifies the need for case management intervention, gaps in service continuum; Uses and evaluates health care resources to achieve an optimal healthcare outcome; Assesses essential job functions in accommodated and full return to work status; Collaborates with clients and others using a multidisciplinary approach to achieve desired outcomes, establishes communication plans, coordinates referrals as appropriate, engages in multidisciplinary consultation for complex cases. Work Force, Workplace, and Environmental Issues: Conducts health screenings and surveillance activities; Monitors the work environment to assure employee health and safety; Identifies compliance issues consistent with local, state and federal laws, regulation and standards for workplace health and safety; Participates in employee education to reduce hazards and foster compliance with safe work practices; Supports the Environment of Care as defined by the Safety Committee. - Demonstrates compliance with laws and regulations governing nursing practice, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, HIPAA and Workers' Compensation through counseling, record keeping, and documentation. Health Promotion / Disease Prevention
- Maintains infectious disease screening programs as mandated by Infection Control; Increases employee awareness of health issues and choices. Collaborates with others in defining, and promoting a comprehensive Wellness Program having positive impact on health costs and employee productivity. Other duties as assigned.
