Job Summary The Manager provides leadership, management, and administration of all aspects of the OB monitoring team to ensure department objectives are met. This position works in collaboration with MHHS campus leaders, hospital departments and clinical staff to improve the quality and safety of patient care. This role reports to the Director of Operations for the Patient Flow Center. Job Description Minimum Qualifications Education : Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited school of professional nursing required Certification/Licenses : Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing required Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) required Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Five (5) years of progressive RN experience required. Two (2) years of supervisory experience in labor and delivery required. Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) FHM Instructor required. Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Advanced FHM Instructor preferred. Knowledge of fetal heart monitoring, as well as knowledge of the monitoring system and the ability to review trends and alarms. Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills to enhance & maintain positive relations with senior management, physicians, outside agencies/organizations, and staff across all disciplines. Excellent organizational skills to execute multiple projects. Demonstrated effective working relationship with physicians. Demonstrated ability to provide conflict resolution and/or appropriate escalations in matters pertaining to hospital personnel, physicians, patients and/or visitors. Principal Accountabilities Manages department staff with accountability for the performance and results of the team. Assists with departmental planning including departmental strategic plans, budgets, goals, and policies, procedures, and standards of care as well as the development of new/enhanced services within budgetary specifications. Ensures quality performance and safe operations by determining appropriate staffing needs, training/orienting new employees, and assessing competency levels while operating within budgetary specifications, compliance to appropriate standards, and accuracy of practice. Provide a structured means for policy and procedure development through regularly scheduled staff meetings allowing for continual evaluation, review, and update of standards, functions, goals, and objectives. Accountable for customer satisfaction, cost control, and for performance improvement by monitoring and improving transfer processes. Collaborates with other departments to ensure efficient operations. Participate in quality assurance and improvements of the transfer process and documentation, developing appropriate follow up plans. Functions as a hands-on team member, facilitating transfer requests as needed. Collaborates with System Education in supportive role as AWHONN FHM Instructor, teaches a minimum one class annually and remains in good standing as an AWHONN instructor. Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
