Summary:
We are searching for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who is motivated to work in Hematology/Oncology with Adolescent and Young Adult patients.
This full-time position will support our Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) population.
Prior Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
- Functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in the inpatient and outpatient settings for medically complex oncology patients.
- Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols.
- Supports physician to develop and maintain patients. Collaborates with specialties and maintains continuity of care.
- Provides coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence.
- Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital admission/discharge and prescriptive authority.
- Perform procedures including but not limited to bone marrow aspirates and biopsies and lumbar punctures.
Education/Experience:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses• Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.
Physician Assistants
• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies strongly preferred
• Minimum of two years Pediatric primary/specialty or acute care setting experience OR 2 years' experience in related allied health field (i.e. family practice setting with heavy component of pediatric patients) strongly preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses• Current Texas professional registered nurse license
• Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse license
• Recognition from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse
• Certification as Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred*
Physician Assistants
• Current Texas professional physician assistant license
• Recognition from the Texas State Medical Board as a Physician Assistant.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant PA-C required.
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred*
- PALS certification is required when assigned to Anesthesiology, Care Team, Complex Care, Fostering Health, H/O, Nephrology, and Neurology departments.
