Job Summary MEG tech-Children's Imaging and Procedure Suites Position responsible for performing magnetoencephalography (MEG)/electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings on patients; archives data; screens patients; monitors MEG system; prints films and maintains equipment. Job Description Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED, preferred. Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support certification and Evoked Potential knowledge required. Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Either four (4) years of experience as a licensed radiological technologist with MRI or CT experience or as a licensed EEG technologist or demonstrated experience as MEG technologist for at least one (1) year. Principal Accountabilities Instructs, prepares, and monitors patients through MEG procedures; performs MEG/EEG recordings on patients and prepares data for analysis; archives and stores data on appropriate media; places EEG electrodes when needed; prepares detailed factual reports. Screens patients; obtains and documents pertinent medical history from patients and referring facilities. Reviews informed consent form with patients and families. Responsible for daily MEG system upkeep procedures; fills MEG sensor with liquid helium; performs system checks and reports problems to appropriate personnel; maintains and sets up MEG-EEG machine. Provides feedback to manufacturer of MEG system regarding software and hardware. Prints diagnostic MEG films; co-registers Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) images; uses current software to make MRI or Computed Tomography (CT) images. Participates in startup meetings for new protocols; performs technical setup of new protocols with visiting scientists and researchers; assists researchers data transfer. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
