Position Summary: The LVN/GVN assists the physician and mid-level practitioners in providing quality care as delegated. This individual is also cross trained to assist in clerical tasks, waived testing and phlebotomy/ venipuncture. # Qualifications: A. Education: Currently licensed as a Vocational Nurse by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas OR hold a current Texas permit. # B. Training and Experience: 1. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within ninety (90) days of hire required upon hire or transfer to the department 2. Minimum of six (6) months# experience working as an LVN preferred; one year of experience in an ambulatory setting preferred. 3. Bilingual abilities are desirable but not mandatory. 4. EKG and Cardiac Rhythms knowledge 5. Mental Health First Aid-Suicide Awareness Training # C. Demonstrate appropriate leadership skills: â–ª Professionalism â–ª Communication â–ª Role Presentation â–ª Modeling Decision-making and problem resolution # Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions: A. Ability to perform: 1. Heavy lifting 2. Sustained standing and walking 3. Work under stress 4. Varied work hours and shifts including weekends and holidays # B. May encounter exposure to infectious diseases.
