Department Details The Rice Lake critical care transport team includes Critical Care Paramedics, Registered Nurses, and Emergency Medical Technicians – Basic and Advance. This teams provides care and management of patients of all ages and acuity in a mobile environment for 911 and interfacility transports. Patient care is determined on patient needs, acuity, assessment, and written/protocol orders under the direction of a medical provider. Our team is dedicated to providing extraordinary care to patients throughout their transport and beyond. We offer 12 and 24 hour shifts, weekend and holiday rotations and self-scheduling. Please note that the Rice Lake Ambulance Team has an onsite Station Dog. Summary Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT & AEMT) has the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Function as part of a comprehensive emergency medical services (EMS) response system, under medical oversight. Responsible for the delivery of emergency patient care. Job Description Competent in trauma and medical situations, in a pre-hospital setting. Possess the knowledge and the necessary skills to provide lifesaving interventions. May need to assist and give direction to additional EMS Responders at the scene and/or during transport. Administer first aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured persons in pre-hospital settings. Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury and establishes priority for required emergency care. Based on assessment, will provide emergency are to adults, infants and children, medical and trauma patients. Provide both basic and advanced life support, including comprehensive patient assessment, airway management, 12-Lead capture and administration of medications. Responsible for verbal communication with the patient, other pre-hospital providers and hospital personnel, including physician medical directors. Extensive written documentation on patient condition and treatment provided, as well as understand all applicable legal, moral and ethical issues surrounding EMS. Ability to determine appropriate facility patients transported to, with knowledge of the condition of the patients and the extent of their injuries unless otherwise indicated by medical direction. Constantly assess the patient while in route to the emergency facility, administers additional care as indicated or given by medical direction. Observe, record, and report to physician the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs or treatment at the emergency scene and in transit to the receiving facility staff for purposes of records and diagnostics. Provide additional support to other Sanford locations upon request. Ensures that the ambulance is clean and washed and kept in a neat orderly condition. After each call, restock and replace used linens, blankets and other supplies, cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures, checks of all equipment so that the ambulance is ready for the next run and maintains ambulance in efficient operating condition. Maintain communication with the patient and the family. Comfort and reassure patients and be able to demonstrate concern and courtesy while maintaining confidentiality of the patient's information. Performs other duties as directed by the Supervisor, the Administrator or designee. Physical activities include, but not limited to, considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials. Attend training classes to maintain certification licensure, keep abreast of new developments in the field, or maintain existing knowledge. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Training Program required for licensing. Must have knowledge of emergency medical technician (EMT) principles, practices and techniques, knowledge of equipment and how to troubleshoot problems that may arise. Requires Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and must hold national registry status at an AEMT or EMT level. Depending on state requirements, individuals may need to have a state license. National Incident Management System/Incident Command System NIMS ICS100, 200, and 700 completed, and continue education hours as mandated by accreditation. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are preferred. Additional training provided/workshops/ or staff meetings attended as per policy. Possess a valid Driver's License and have a good driving record.
