Job Summary The Carpenter performs a variety of duties in and around the hospital complex related to framing, cabinet manufacturing, demo and drywall, repairs, and general construction in accordance with DNV standards and applicable codes Job Specific Responsibilities: Daily assignments may include but are not limited to: • Perform all tasks related to the carpentry trade • Ensure compliance with the hospital’s fire and safety codes before, during, and after each work project • Installs commercial door frames and door hardware • Install suspended and hard ceilings • Assist cabinet maker with manufacturing and installation of millwork and solid surface counter tops • Perform general contract labor work • All other related assigned duties Education and Experience • High school diploma or GED • + 4 years of related experience as a commercial carpenter Skills and Abilities • Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings • Ability to complete construction projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision • Able to work independently in a team environment Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships This position will interact with staff, visitors, and patients Physical Capabilities Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 80 pounds on a frequent basis with prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching on a daily basis. Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically-powered tools and equipment. Environmental/Working Conditions This position is mostly subject to inside conditions; however, may be required to be outdoors occasionally. Occasionally may require work with environmental hazards, (i.e., noisy environment, work infectious agents, near power supplies / machinery, etc.) Occasionally may require work with toxic chemicals. Danger from falling cuts and abrasions are present. Subject to call-backs at all times. Telephone or equivalent is required.
