Job Description Repairs and maintains patient care equipment, analytical instruments, computer based medical equipment systems and related technologies to ensure its safety and operational performance characteristics. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance according to hospital policies, procedures and industry recognized standards. Maintains accurate documentation of all service events, performance tests and corrective maintenance performed on a wide range of equipment types, including life support, monitoring, diagnostic, therapeutic, analytical, and general clinical (patient care) devices. Participates in and/or assists with development of departmental and hospital based continuous quality improvement initiatives. Maximizes patient safety by supporting the proper use, application and operational performance of patient care equipment. SHIFT & SCHEDULE: Fulltime, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Maintains repairs, calibrates and inspects medical, diagnostic, analytical equipment, and support systems. Responds to requests for service of medical, diagnostic, analytical equipment, and support systems. Usually independently must diagnose the problem and repair the device/system. Determines need for equipment calibration and ensures that approved calibration procedures are sued and documented. Maintains documentation on new equipment, inspections, equipment repairs and failures in the computerized maintenance management software database. Maintains parts inventory and processes orders for additional stock as needed. Executes medical equipment system software and hardware upgrades as required. Verifies the quality of work performed by vendor service technician after each service call to insure performance of device/system meets specifications. Collaborate with Hospital Information Systems to ensure Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance and connectivity of medical devices. Communicate effectively with customers, and maintains an effective line of communication with supervisor and/or “Leadership” reporting on status of inspections, and repairs. Ability to prioritize, organize and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Understand and comply with DNV and other applicable standards and regulations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree in electronic or biomedical equipment technology is desirable. Network Plus certification is desirable. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to: Ø Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits. Bonus- Up to $30,000 with up to a 3 year commitment Bonus is only applicable to new hires. Please inquire for details. Not eligible for current employees or returning employees within one year of separation. Bonus is not eligible if hired through a staffing agency or if sponsorship is required
