The BioMedical Engineer Project Manager leads hospital-based biomedical engineering projects, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant implementation of medical technology solutions. This role bridges technical expertise with project management to support clinical operations, patient safety, and strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include managing equipment lifecycle projects, technology upgrades, and integration with hospital IT systems while adhering to healthcare regulations and accreditation standards. Essential Job Functions • Plans, leads, executes, and monitors biomedical engineering and clinical technology projects, including medical device installations, upgrades, replacements, and interoperability initiatives, in alignment with organizational priorities. • Develops and maintains comprehensive project documentation, including project charters, scopes, timelines, budgets, resource plans, and risk assessments using established project management methodologies and tools. • Applies demonstrated knowledge of medical devices, clinical technology environments, and hospital workflows to ensure projects support safe, effective, and efficient patient care delivery. • Collaborates with clinical departments, biomedical engineering, information technology, facilities, and vendors to ensure seamless integration of medical devices into clinical and operational workflows. • Oversees vendor coordination related to equipment procurement, installation, testing, validation, and go-live activities. • Applies working knowledge of healthcare technology integration standards, including HL7 and FHIR, to support device connectivity and system interoperability. • Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements, including Joint Commission, FDA, ISO standards, and internal hospital policies. • Conducts project-related risk assessments and implements mitigation strategies to support patient, staff, and operational safety. • Serves as the primary point of contact for physicians, nurses, administrators, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. • Facilitates governance reporting and communicates project status, risks, and issues to leadership committees and sponsors. • Monitors and evaluates project performance metrics, including equipment uptime, maintenance compliance, cost efficiency, schedule adherence, and quality outcomes. • Completes post-project evaluations, lessons learned, and documentation to support continuous improvement and organizational learning. • Utilizes project management tools and systems, such as ServiceNow, Microsoft Project, or similar applications, to manage and report on project progress. • Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively. • Prioritizes work, meets deadlines, and adapts to changing needs in a fast-paced, high-acuity healthcare environment. • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and convey technical and project-related information to diverse audiences. • Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance. • Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
