Job Description
The Unit Director coordinates and directs the clinical and other unit activities necessary to provide quality patient care. Provides leadership to facilitate staff development and productive working relationships within the health care team. Holds a current Texas permit or license as a Registered Nurse (RN) required upon hire or transfer to the department. Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required upon hire or transfer to the department. Master’s degree in nursing preferred. Current BLS through the American Heart Association required upon hire or transfer to the department. Minimum of three (3) years full-time R.N. experience. Prefer minimum one (1) year leadership experience in a defined leadership role. Successful completion of general and nursing orientation within 3 months of hire. Completion of the following competencies within three (3) months of hire or transfer: Leadership, Facilitate development of nursing personnel, Maintain awareness of staff skills and knowledge, Fiscal Management, Staff evaluation, Role model, Continuous improvement, Professional communication, Progressive discipline, Goal setting, Age Specific Care, Professional development, Recruitment and retention.
