UNBILLED COORDINATOR HIM

Hours of Work : 40 Days Of Week : M-F Work Shift : Job Description : Your Job: In this highly technical and fast-paced position, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide the very best care for our patients. As the Unbilled Coordinator, you will be responsible for expediting record processing to ensure timely coding/billing and follow up on accounts not coded timely. This position will focus on why accounts cannot be coded and provide management with ongoing progress reports. Your Job Requirements: • High school graduate or its equivalent • 3+ years of medical record/physician office experience required; must have experience working unbilled accounts, which include working with the medical STAFFnd other departments to obtain information needed to code accounts • Detail oriented and able to maintain a professional image • Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with physicians, health care workers, administration and health information management staff • Team player Your Job Responsibilities: • Monitor unbilled accounts and follow up on accounts not coded within 7 days • Follow up on pending documentation (physician queries, outstanding orders, outstanding reports, etc.) • Work closely with other departments to ensure accounts can be coded timely (cardiology, emergency, CBO, patient access) • Follow up on pre-bill accounts pending review for over 48 hours • Answer telephone calls, handle requests and accept/forward messages accurately; provides prompt return calls to customers leaving messages (with questions or status checks) • Greet and direct all walk-in customers in a professional and courteous manner • Complete birth certificates according to the Bureau of Vital Statistics requirements utilizing information collected from parents, nurses, and physicians • Distribute the Acknowledgement of Paternity Survey to parents needing an Acknowledgement of Paternity Statement completed and accurately prepare any AOPs completed by the parents • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Texas Department of Health and Bureau of Vital Statistics' regulations for registration of birth certificates, including paternity rights and limitations • Pick up charts of daily discharges from the patient care units and verify all records are accounted for • Other duties as assigned Methodist Health System is a faith-based organization with a mission to improve and save lives through compassionate, quality healthcare.
