Job Description:
The Physical Therapy Aide is a non-licensed worker who has completed the job training and works under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to assist and carry out patient care to pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This is a year-long position working two days a week, day shift.
* Cleans equipment per protocol. * Assembles and disassembles supplies/equipment. * Cleans treatment areas and mat tables. * Transports patients, records, equipment and supplies. * Orders and stocks linens and stocks SPD supplies. * Assists and monitors patients of all ages in preparation for, during and at conclusion of treatment. * Performs basic modalities and technical treatment procedures predetermined by a licensed therapist including, but not limited to, hot and cold packs, ice massage, fluido-therapy, ultrasound, application of CPM, routine exercise, routine gait and Cybex exercises, under the general supervision of a licensed therapist. * Attends committees, assignments, meetings, in services and special projects as assigned and appropriate. * Cross covers medical receptionist duties as needed.
Experience/Qualifications:
* Knowledge of patient care standards and practices in a physical therapy setting normally acquired through completion of a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience, on the job training of complex technical duties, and a clear demonstration of competence at performing Physical Therapy Aide duties. * Previous applicable experience beneficial. * Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED. (See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Policy). * A history of school and work performance that gives evidence of ability to meet the job requirements beneficial.
