Heart failure, cardiomyopathy, NSTEMI, STEMI, positive stress tests, electrical disorders of the heart. ** $15,000 Sign On Bonus Available for qualified applicants ** Summary The Cath Lab Scheduling Nurse is responsible for coordinating and scheduling diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures within the Cath Lab, ensuring that all patients are prepared and scheduled in a timely manner. This role involves direct communication with physicians, patients, and other healthcare providers to ensure the smooth operation of the Cath Lab and high-quality patient care. Job Description Key Responsibilities: Scheduling & Coordination: · Schedule patients for catheterization lab procedures such as angiograms, angioplasties, stent placements, and other related interventional cardiology procedures. · Coordinate with the Cath Lab team, including physicians, to ensure that the scheduling process runs smoothly. · Prioritize cases based on urgency, patient condition, and availability of resources. Patient Communication: · Communicate with patients to explain the procedures, preparation requirements, and answer any questions or concerns. · Provide pre-procedure instructions to patients, including fasting and medication adjustments Medical Record & Documentation Management: · Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all scheduling information in the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system. · Review patient history, lab results, and other necessary records prior to scheduling procedures to ensure appropriate patient care. · Collaboration & Communication with Medical Staff: · Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare providers to schedule complex cases and ensure the necessary equipment and personnel are available. · Assist in facilitating and organizing emergency or urgent procedures when necessary. Patient Safety & Preparation: · Ensure that patients are properly prepared for their procedures, including verifying that all necessary pre-operative tests and documentation are completed. · Verify patient identity, procedure, and site to minimize the risk of errors. · Work closely with the nursing team to monitor and address any issues related to patient readiness and safety. Efficiency & Process Improvement: · Monitor the scheduling workflow to ensure that the Cath Lab is being utilized efficiently. · Identify and implement improvements in the scheduling process to reduce wait times and enhance patient satisfaction. · Work with hospital administration and the Cath Lab team to optimize patient flow and minimize delays. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred. One year of healthcare experience preferred. Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Within first 30 days of employment, all requirements to obtain license needed for role is completed. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
