Position Highlights

SUMMARY:

Performs all duties and responsibilities in such a way as to demonstrate and support the hospital's goal of excellence in patient care by facilitating positive employee relations and supporting department goals.  Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.  This individual will perform the assigned duties in a manner which produces a positive and productive work environment for clients and co-workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs radiologic examinations. Performs cardiovascular examinations including EKG(s), 24 hour Holter Monitor hook-ups and Treadmill Stress Tests. Practices radiation safety. Handles the necessary paperwork, filing and other office procedures in accordance with department policies. Assists the physician with the application of casts. Keeps the work area clean and orderly. Performs quality control tests done within the Radiology department. Performs routine maintenance on x-ray and cardiovascular equipment and the film processor. Shares night and weekend call with the other Radiology personnel. Able to work rotating shifts. Able to meet all physical demands of the position.

TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES:

Demonstrates the ability to work with appropriate providers to provide necessary x-rays, ultrasound images, etc. to assist with patient treatment. Demonstrates the functional use of radiological equipment while conducting patient contact. Keeps current with the latest trends in technology and radiological procedures. Maintains confidentiality of patient information. Maintains professional appearance and conduct.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from an approved school of Radiological Technology and registered by the Registry of Radiological Technologists.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions of equipment, radiological publications, and procedure and policy manuals.  Ability to speak effectively to a group of peers or consumers.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Licensed by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste and smell.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.  They will be required to lift, transfer and reposition patients weighing up to 250 pounds or more.  Requires pushing and pulling of patients of similar weights above for patient transportation.  Must be able to lift and carry without assistance, a minimum of 15 pounds of weight.  Occasionally they will be required to assist with lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, and occasionally assist with lifting and or moving up to 100 pounds.  At times they will work while wearing heavy protective aprons and other equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an area of radiation, can be exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, a risk of electrical shock, and risk of infection.  The noise level in the department is slight to moderate.
