Physical Therapist

Administers medically prescribed physical therapy programs and treatments to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body part. Directs and supervises employees of the department in the assigned work areas and participates in interdisciplinary care within the department and the hospital. Plans Physical Therapy programs for each patient through evaluation and assessment of patient needs, as prescribed by physicians. Has the authority to recommend disciplinary action pertaining to employees supervised. Complies with the standards set forth in the Texas physical therapy practice act. Performs essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Evaluates, plans, and coordinates treatments for patients in assigned areas. Directs and supervises activities of assistants and aides in assigned areas, and sees that all maintain high standards of professionalism. Participates in educational and training programs for necessary personnel. Completes medical documentation in an accurate and timely manner, consistent with rules and regulations. Participates in rotating to necessary areas, setting will include but not limited to outpatient, wound care, rehab, acute care, and long-term acute care, to provide treatment coverage to patients where needed.
