Job Description:
Greets and schedules patients, registers patients into the computer system, and determines their insurance benefits. Serve as a liaison between patient and clinical support staff.
Job Requirements:
• High school education or equivalent
• 2 years in a front office using EMR software
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and coding
Job Responsibilities:
- Greets patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
- Check in patient
- Check out patients
- Review insurance cards
- Collect co-pays
- Ensures a balanced cash drawer
- Inputs any charges into patients accounts
- Create estimate if one does not exist
- Check for referrals attached to appointment (if applicable)
- Schedules any follow up, post op, new problem, procedure and new patient appointments
- Verifies and updates demographic information
- Registers new patients into the system (if a chart does not already exist), and collects all demographic & insurance information
- Answer telephone calls, takes messages and routes to the appropriate team member via telephone encounter
- Maintains a clean and neat work area and reception area
- Ability to cover at other locations within Methodist Orthopedic Specialists
