Department Details This is a day, 8 to 4:30, position. No weekends or holidays, except when on call. Flexible work schedule. Working directly with the kidney transplant team. Very interesting and rewarding position. All on the job training in HLA provided. Summary Perform complex histocompatibility testing, including serologic and molecular methods of tissue typing, antibody screening and identification, and donor cross matching. Interpret and evaluate histocompatibility data and apply this to donor-recipient matching for solid organ transplantation. Job Description Routine patient testing, including patient preparation, specimen handling, and processing. Be able to perform emergent patient testing independently in an on-call situation. Record, interpret and report test results. Review of quality control records, proficiency testing results, and preventative maintenance records. Performance of instrument maintenance and function checks. Assessment of test performance through testing previously analyzed specimens, internal blind testing samples or external proficiency testing samples. May be required for some additional shift flexibility including designated on-call responsibility. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in science field required. Three years’ experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred. National certification exam required for Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). If not MT, MLS or CLS, certification from the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics as a Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) required within one year. Will obtain and maintain any continuing education credits equivalent to the requirements of applicable state licensure law(s).
