As Director of the Central Business Office, you#ll champion lean workflows, drive innovation, and keep Kootenai Health ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. You#ll oversee claims, denials, and A/R performance while helping teams work efficiently and confidently. You#ll collaborate with partners across the organization, ensure compliance with evolving regulations, and create an environment where employees feel engaged and patients feel supported. Your leadership will help the department thrive both operationally and culturally. What you will do! Oversee the operations of the centralized billing department, encompassing timely, clean claims submission, management of accounts receivable, denials management and remediation of underpayments Serve as the subject matter expert and primary resource for all hospital and professional billing processes, including policy and procedure development and implementation of workflow improvements Plan and direct effective workload assignments to ensure efficient billing and account collection within Steady State timelines, minimize overtime, and to allow staffing adjustment for changes in volume and business line priorities Budgetary responsibility: preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, and monthly monitoring of actual expense against budget Responsible for detailed analysis of performance and output, including claims accuracy and completeness; A/R reduction, third party and patient collections, compliance to payer requirements, denials and appeals effectiveness, edits resolution, staff productivity, and lean workflows Perform root cause analysis of claims denials, underpayments and write-offs.# Collaborates with upstream departments and Payer Strategy to reduce preventable denials and improve success rate of appeals # Routinely communicates performance updates and billing/net revenue impact of regulatory changes to leadership; takes appropriate and timely action to maintain performance to meet organizational targets Implements an effective quality audit program across all CBO department functions and locations; provides timely feedback to staff Ensures that the activities of the billing operations are conducted in a manner that is consistent with Kootenai Health policy and is in compliance with Federal, State, and payer regulations, guidelines, and requirements Stays current with federal, state and commercial payer regulatory changes and updates. Communicates relevant information to maintain performance and reduce risk of audit or denials What you will bring: Bachelor#s Degree in related field, required.# Master#s Degree preferred Minimum 10 years of current progressive hospital Business Office experience, including at least 5 years in a management role required Prior direct experience using Epic or similar electronic medical record system, required Familiarity with procedural coding and medical terminology highly recommended Current experience and familiarity with Medicare billing regulations and requirements, commercial and Medicare Advantage billing guidelines and payer reimbursement models Experience in creating PowerPoint presentations and comfortable presenting in group settings Demonstrated record of excellent customer service and achieving a positive patient experience Skill in developing, implementing, and sustaining Lean work processes Past direct experience preparing department operational budgets Analytical and problem-solving skills, sufficient to understand complex data reporting with ability to effectively communicate outcomes About Kootenai Health:## Kootenai Health is a highly esteemed healthcare organization serving patients throughout northern Idaho and the Inland Northwest.
