 Department Details AFSCME Job Posting Internal Posting Timeline: Friday, March 6, 2026 - Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 4:00pm Hours: 7a-3:30p, 7:30a-4pm, or as assigned Overtime Status: 12+ hours in 1 day or 40+ hours in 1 work week Summary The LPN - Occupational Health participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care within the objectives, standards, and policies of the department and within the parameters of nurse’s preparation. Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, supervisors, managers, other departments, and employer clients. Job Description Responsibilities include direct care under the supervision of Occupational Health provider, provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of clients/patients. Provides injections for immunization, assists with procedures, and prepares equipment/ instruments needed for patient care. Keeps exams rooms aseptic, neat, and supplied. Worker Health/Hazard Assessment: Performs screening tests for which nurse has been prepared by education, experience, and where applicable, certification process (as required by the regulating bodies of employer clients). Documentation and communication of records information concisely, accurately, and completely. Strives to promote positive relations between Occupational Health and clients through prompt, accurate, and professional verbal and written communications. Applies knowledge and maintains ability to perform procedures that nurse has the appropriate license, education, and experience to perform. Assumes responsibility for own continued personal and professional growth. Completes non-patient care duties accurately and efficiently, including but not limited to Medical Review Program work and drug program resulting/reporting to employers. Assists in the orientation of new department personnel. May draw blood by venipuncture once properly trained. May do finger stick glucose monitor testing with proper preparation. May travel to employer sites/outpatient satellite clinics and perform other duties as assigned Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. Qualifications Completion of a recognized and duly approved practical nursing curriculum required. Demonstrates clinical competence and knowledge of age-specific and employer/industry-specific needs. Ability to become proficient at duties such as respirator fit testing, PPD skin testing, and other identified duties. Must be able to work cooperatively and communicate positively and effectively. Previous clinic, office and/or outpatient care experience preferred. Occupational health experience desirable. Michigan LPN license required upon start and Wisconsin LPN license required within 3 months. Ability to obtain/maintain the following certifications: BCLS (within 30 days), CAOHC Audiometric/Hearing Conservation (within 6 months), NIOSH Spirometry (within 6 months), & DOT Drug and Alcohol Sample Collection (within 3 months). If travel to offsite locations is required, must possess a valid driver’s license and have a driving record without a significant history of accidents and/or convictions of moving violations.
