Job Summary
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for but not limited to, installing, inspecting, repairing fixtures, wire, pipes, and electrical systems in accordance to DNV and TDLR standards.
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Performs and completes preventive maintenance in assigned areas
• Responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, and maintenance of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, building maintenance, and patient care equipment
• Install circuit boards, outlets, and other electrical systems
• Troubleshoot electrical problems and make repairs accordingly
• Inventory tools and supplies; Please orders according to forecasted jobs
• Maintain electrical panel labels as projects complete
• Follow proper safety procedures according to TDLR and DNV standards
• All other related assigned duties
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an electrician program from a recognized vocational/technical school or recognized apprenticeship program, in electrical systems
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
- Valid Driver’s License
• TDLR Journeyman Electrician license
Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with various types of electrical systems, fixtures, and components
• Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
• Able to perform installation and inspections on electrical components including transformers, circuit breakers, power tools and maintenance/welding equipment
• Excellent time management skills needed
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
Interacts on a daily basis with staff, visitors, and patients throughout the hospital
Physical Capabilities
Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis; prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching on a daily basis. Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically-powered tools and equipment.
Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is mostly subject to inside environmental conditions, however, may be required to be outdoors occasionally. May require frequent work with environmental hazards (i.e.; noisy environment, with infectious agents, near power supplies/machinery, etc.) Occasionally may require work with toxic chemicals. Danger from falls, cuts and abrasions is present. Subject to various shifts. Subject to call-backs at all times. Telephone is required.
