A Brief Overview
Coordinates and implements the Avera Mission Services Department's activities and programs, assists with program development and facilitation, and manages the department's communication strategy.

What you will do

  • Collaborates with the Avera leadership in continuing to develop a mission-based culture throughout the entire Avera organization.
  • Leads Avera-wide mission education/training for staff by developing materials for employee orientations, leadership programs (e.g., Leaders in Ministry and Mission Leadership Development), educational presentations, etc., using appropriate delivery methods for each setting and audience.
  • Coordinates and provides support, including facilitation, for Mission Services programs at assigned Avera Health facilities.
  • Provides support for the Catholic Identity Matrix process, including planning, communication, evaluation, and follow-through.
  • Ensures the consistent and timely communication and reporting of the goals of the Avera Mission Services Department through the Avera Daily Line-Up, the Avera website, the Avera Health Bulletin, and other Avera Health reports and newsletters.
  • Assists with the planning, organizing, and delivery of educational conferences and other events related to the Avera Mission Services Department, including but not limited to the Avera Spirituality and Healing Ministries Conference and the Avera Ethics Conference.
  • Advances the Charity Care and Community Benefits work of Avera by serving as an educator and liaison to ensure that Avera’s activities in this area are developed, implemented, and evaluated effectively.
  • Identifies, organizes, and responds to external mission-related activities in which Avera might participate, including but not limited to coordinating logistical support for the Avera Haiti Project.

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Education, Theology or Pastoral Ministry; and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Clinical Pastoral Education - 2 Units - Association of Pastoral Education within 180 Days
  • 4-6 years Leadership experience is strongly preferred; health care experience is strongly preferred including experience working with physicians.
