Role details The Bowen Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Midwife to join their team on a permanent basis.For information on how to apply and the mandatory requirements for this role, please refer to the attached Role Description.Your opportunity A Clinical Midwife is a Registered Midwife who provides midwifery services in health service settings; and is responsible for a portfolio with a focus on clinical care/leadership, management, education and/or research. The activities required of roles at this level are predominantly clinical in nature but also provide support to other midwifery staff within the Bowen Midwifery Team including a midwife Grade 7 or above in management activities.About the TeamBowen is located at the top of the Whitsundays, with the hospital offering breath taking views of the surrounding blue seas and stunning local beaches. The Bowen Hospital is a busy rural facility consisting of seventeen acute beds, offering many specialty inpatient and outpatients services.The Bowen Midwifery team provides services to most women living in the Bowen area extending to Collinsville. The midwifery team support up to 120 women each year, with women planning to birth at various locations, 200km North to Townsville at the Mater or Townsville University Hospital (TUH), 60km south to Proserpine Hospital extending to 200km south to Mackay Base - Women's Health Unit.The service is a level 1 – Clinical Services capability Framework (CSCF), supported by Child Health services, and a part-time GP Generalist/ obstetrics. The option of Telehealth services are additionally provided supporting care closer to home care for these women. The team is supported by 2.0 FTE Clinical Midwives and 1.4 FTE of a Registered Midwife providing antepartum and postpartum care, with 24/7 on call support for after hours. The Hospital and Midwifery team have capacity for emergency birthing. Midwifery care and support is to an all-risk model, with the versatility of experience in this rural location enables midwives to maintain experience in all aspects of midwifery care.About our Hospital and Health Service Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,500 staff.
