- Responsibilities The prior authorization specialist is responsible for coordinating and processing prior authorizations as requested by providers.
- Obtains and processes initial prior authorizations and re-authorizations as required by insurance providers.
- Notifies patient of appointments and gives any instructions required for appointment.
- Enters insurance prior authorization documentation into the electronic health record.
- Communicates patient financial responsibility for healthcare services to patients and guarantors.
- Create and provide cost estimates for scheduled services and procedures.
- Collect deposits, copayments, deductibles, and other patient payments.
- Performs additional prior authorization responsibilities and clerical work as needed within the clinic.
- Qualifications Job
Requirements
- High School (or GED equivalent) diploma.
- Prior experience in a customer service role.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Preferred Job
Requirements
- Prior scheduling or prior authorization experience.
