American Sign Language Medical Interpreter at Merrimack Health

As the ASL Medical Interpreter, you will be under the direction of the Coordinator of Interpreter Services, who serves as an American Sign Language medical interpreter for patients and staff. Effectively interpret between ASL and English in compliance with all officer and hospital policies and procedures. Understands and abides at all times by all published Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Medical Interpreters and ASL Interpreters. You will be asked to assist hospital staff in meeting the communication needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing patients and families by providing interpretation with health care providers. Serves as a cultural and linguistic resource to both patients and providers to contribute to successful outcomes. Performs duties in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation. Adheres to hospital policies on customer relations and hospitality. Understands the hospital#s system of service delivery.
