Responsibilities

  • Serves as the o n-site clinical and operational leader during assigned shifts, providing consultation, problem solving, and support to nursing units, allied health departments, providers, patients, and families.
  • Maintains a visible leadership presence and responds to complex clinical, operational, staffing, and patient care issues throughout the facility.
  • Coordinates and optimizes patient flow , patient placement, and resource utilization across the organization.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary care teams to determine appropriate levels of care, facilitate patient movement, and ensure the effective allocation of staffing and operational resources.
  • Leads organizational response to emergencies, critical incidents, codes, and crisis situations.
  • Serves as a resource for regulatory, accreditation, compliance, legal, risk management, and patient safety matters, including activation and management of the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) when necessary.
  • Promotes a culture of safety, quality, service excellence, and patient-centered care through coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, performance improvement activities, and support of evidence-based practice.
  • Facilitates effective communication and collaboration among leadership, physicians, staff, patients, families, community partners, EMS agencies, and external healthcare organizations.
  • Supports human resource and leadership functions including interviewing, onboarding, performance coaching, staff development, succession planning, and leadership mentoring.
  • May assume nursing leadership responsibilities in the absence of department leaders and contributes to organizational councils, strategic initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational policies , regulatory requirements, professional standards, and documentation expectations.
  • Utilizes electronic health records, bed management systems, and other technology platforms to monitor operations, document events, analyze outcomes, and support clinical, operational, and fiscal performance.
  • Advocates for patients and families by facilitating services related to accessibility, cultural and language needs, end-of-life care, organ and tissue donation, and other specialized patient support processes while exemplifying Presbyterian Health Services CARES commitments and compassionate connected care principles.

Qualifications

  • Associates of Nursing degree from an accredited school NM licensed RN 5 years of relevant experience (acute care-tele or above) and/or leadership nursing experience.
