A Brief Overview
Responsible for building, sustaining, and operationalizing Avera Medical Group's medical education strategy. This role focuses on strategic academic partnerships, faculty development, and medical student tracking to support long-term physician recruitment and workforce planning.
What you will do
- Maintains and develops strategic relationships with regional medical schools, serving as the primary administrative liaison between Avera Medical Group and academic institutions. Ensures alignment of partnerships with organizational priorities.
- Identifies opportunities to deepen engagement through expanded rotations, longitudinal experiences, and collaborative programming
- Designs, implements, and maintains faculty development curriculum for physicians teaching medical students. Partners with the Physician Director of Medical Education to ensure curriculum aligns with best practices in medical education.
- Coordinates onboarding, ongoing development, and supports resources for physician faculty.
- Oversees systems and processes to track medical student learners across rotations and sites.
- Maintains accurate data to support physician recruitment pipelines and workforce planning. Collaborates with recruitment, physician relationship development, and regional leadership. Uses data and insights to identify high-potential recruitment opportunities.
- Provides administrative leadership for medical education initiatives across the medical group. Partners closely with physician leaders to align educational efforts with organizational strategy. Ensures compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and affiliation agreements.
- Develops and manages budgets related to medical education programming.
- Serves as a liaison across clinical sites, academic partners, physician leaders, and executive leadership.
- Supports long-term planning for undergraduate medical education growth and sustainability.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Bachelor's healthcare administration, education, business or related field
- Medical education, academic partnerships or physician engagement
- Experience designing and operationalizing programs from concept through execution
- Exceptional relationship management and collaborative skills across disciplines and organiztaions
- High level of organization, analytical, and communication skills
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Master's healthcare administration, education, business or related field
- Familiarity with undergraduate medical education (UME) structures and workflows
- Experience working with medical schools or academic health systems
- Experience supporting workforce planning initiatives
